ü  Lock keys and other valuables in the trunk of your car and leave an extra set of car keys in our office on the key board.

ü   Always wear your life jacket. That means at all times when you are on the creek. Do not stand in your canoe or overload it. Also, do not leave your canoe or equipment unattended.

ü    Make sure that children and weak swimmers understand the importance of their life jackets. Beginners should take a short trip. And beginners are not advised to take young children their first time out.

ü    Assign an adult to be responsible for each child or weak swimmer in case of an emergency situation. No exceptions.

ü    Use litter bags and do not trash the creek. Keep it beautiful for others. Take only pictures. Bring the litter bags back to the Voyageurs base camp for disposal.

ü    Keep off of private property. Stay on the creek at all times. Our neighbors will appreciate it. Respect fishermen and do not cross their lines.

ü    Do not get on bridges. It is dangerous to walk on any bridge with a walkway.

ü    No guns or weapons are allowed on our property or in our canoes.

ü    Wear some kind of shoes at all times on the creek. Your shoes and feet will get wet, but you will be safer from cuts and bruises.

ü    Have straps for your prescription glasses and sunglasses. They are easy to lose in the creek!

ü    Insect repellent and sun screen may prove valuable. Be sure to remember the tops of your legs. They will sunburn first.

ü    Waterproof cameras will work; radios and other electronic devices are subject to damage from the water.

ü    Use ice chests that float; avoid thin-walled Styrofoam coolers, they break easily and add litter to creek. We recommend a soft-sided cooler that will float.

ü    Only metal cans and plastic bottles are allowed; NO GLASS containers of any kind.

ü    Bring some dry clothes for the end of the trip. You may get wet. A large ziplock plastic bag is a good solution to store items that must stay dry.

ü    And do not forget to review our alcohol policy. No exceptions.

ü    Our office has a supply of items (including ICE)  you need if you forget to bring them with you.

We want you to have a safe, memorable and fun trip.
